Have you been wondering what it's like to live in Canton, Georgia? Well, wonder no more! Today we're telling you all there is to know about the best communities in the area. Canton is located 45 minutes northwest of Interstate 75 and 575. This is a growing and thriving suburb for families and outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Canton is a very safe place to live, with some of the highest safety scores in Georgia. These are some of the best communities to live in the Canton suburb: Great Sky The median price point in Great Sky is $585,000. This community has resort-style amenities and is located in North Canton, just north of downtown and in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Some of the highlights of living in Great Sky include their recently renovated 5000-square-foot clubhouse with three pools that come with a waterpark and slide. They’ve got eight tennis courts, four pickleball courts, and a basketball court. The Great Sky Clubhouse is essentially every physically active person’s dream. One of the greatest things about Great Sky is the access to the Hickory Log Creek Reservoir, which allows for amazing fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. Near this gorgeous lake are walking trails right off the axis of Great Sky. With its 300 acres of protected community space, proximity to award-winning schools in Canton, and a vibrant downtown scene, Great Sky is for every type of family or even individual. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find any resident who doesn’t love living here. River Green This community is located southeast of Canton along Highway 20 and the Etowah River. It is a John Whelan master community with a median price point of $564,000. River Greene has a summer club that’s slightly smaller and chiller than the Great Sky clubhouse. There are also fantastic recreational opportunities, with tennis courts, a soccer field, and basketball courts available. This serene community has two clubhouses of different sizes. The bigger clubhouse has an Olympic-sized lap pool, waterslides, mushroom clouds, and a beach entry. You’ll also love the hundreds of acres of greenery within the River Greene community. Some trails go along Legacy Lake, which is a catch-and-release fishing lake. You’ll also find trails that go along the Etowah River, another catch-and-release area. Bridge Mill Bridge Mill has a median price of $624,000. This 2800-home community has a bit of everything, from small cottages to custom-built homes and larger multimillion-dollar estates. These homes are beautifully placed over 150 acres of greenery. Now, Bridge Mill is a bit different from some of the other communities because it has a paid private club. The Bridge Mill Athletic Club has an 18-hole golf course, a two-acre pool with a waterside, and a spring diving board with a lap pool. There’s also a gym and a restaurant within the club. My favorite bike shop in Bridge Mill, Sixes Pit, is one of the premier mountain bike shops in the state of Georgia, maybe even the entire southeast. Woodmont Woodmont is located east of Canton, down Highway 20. The median price point is $750,000. This stunning community is known as one of the best golf experiences in the Greater Atlanta area and has the first-ever championship par 72 golf course designed by Robert Trent Jr. Its dominant big grass greens, first-class conditions, and the public tee time are not to be missed. Woodmont has a full suite of amenities, including a stunning 26,000-square-foot clubhouse on the golf course and eight tennis hard courts. Within the clubhouse are a fitness center and public dining. This community has two different aquatic centers, one for kids, with a waiting area and a pool slide. The second aquatic center is home to the Wahoos, a competitive swim team. Harmony on the Lakes Harmony on the Lakes has one of the lowest median price points at $475,000. The north entrance provides access to Highway 20, whereas the south entrance is on Hickory Flat Highway. Harmony features a 38-acre Bradshaw Lake in the center of the community, where you can enjoy fishing, canoeing, and feeding the geese. There are all kinds of walking trails in the Rolling Hills adjacent to the neighborhood, with breath-taking streams and waterfalls to boot. The Harmony Lodge boasts two pools, eight tennis courts, basketball courts, a fitness center, a library, and a private room for events. Georgia's Current State Of Safety & Safest Places To Live
Ensuring the safety of yourself and your loved ones is a top priority when selecting your next dream home. This priority shouldn’t change when you move to the Peach State. Although Georgia is a generally safe and peaceful state, some cities are much safer than others. Georgia's current state of safety According to a recent Safewise article, violent and property crimes have decreased over the last few years. In fact, the crime rate in Georgia is below the national average. These Safewise crime statistics are measured based on the number of criminal incidents per 1000 residents. We focused on two major types of crimes to show you the safest city in Georgia – violent crime and property crime. Violent crime is the threat or use of force, whereas property crime refers to theft without force. The rate of violent crime in Georgia is 3.9, and that of property crime is 17.5 incidents per 1000 residents. The national statistics show a slightly higher violent crime rate of 4 incidents per 1000 residents, with the national property crime rate reaching 19.3 incidents per 1000 residents. In the last year, Georgia saw a decrease of 16% overall in crime incidence. Despite the decreased crime rate in Georgia, research shows that safety concern has increased in the state. According to the State of Safety survey, Georgia had the second highest level of concern (66%). The state had the highest concern in violent crime, second-highest in property crime, and ranked Top 10 in general concern about crime. The safest places in the state The Safewise top spot goes to Holly Springs. Located in the northwest Atlanta metro area in Cherokee County, the Holly Springs violent crime rate was zero incidents per 1000 residents. Likewise, the property crime rate was 2.7 incidents per 1000 residents. The second safest city in Georgia is Kingsland, which is in the far-southern part of the state. Hampton, south of Atlanta, comes in at Number three. In fourth place, we have Johns Creek just due east of Alpharetta, another North Atlanta suburb. And finally, we have Barnesville, just northwest of Macon in Middle Georgia at number five. 98 Georgia cities met the requirements for the national Top 20 ranking. On average, 20 of the safest cities have 0.7 property crime incidents per 1000 residents. Barnesville reported zero burglaries, and Johns Creek made it to the national list as the safest city to raise a family. Canton was in 14th place, and Woodstock was Number 20 on the national list.
