Top 5 Reasons to Move to Canton, GA
Located only 40 miles north of Atlanta, Canton is a vibrant city brimming with opportunities for adventure. If you want to experience the best Georgia has to offer, look no further than this fantastic city.
Here are my top 5 reasons for moving to Canton, GA:
#1 Proximity to the North Georgia Mountains
Canton is ideally situated near Ellijay, Jasper, and Blue Ridge, making it perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Living in Canton also places you close to rivers like the Etowah, Toccoa, and Cartecay in Ellijay, ideal for kayaking, fly fishing, and other recreational activities.
#2 Parks and Recreation
The Etowah River Park is right in Downtown Canton. It’s got walking trails, biking paths, and amazing playgrounds to take your dog. There’s also the Cherokee Veterans Memorial Park off Highway 20. If you’re into sports or just love a bit of adventure, you’ll love the new gymnasium. You’ll also love the skate park and great softball, baseball, and soccer fields.
Canton is also home to Boling Park, one of the oldest parks in the city; it's right along the Etowah River.
#3 Community
The community of Canton is unmatched! There's a Summer Concert Series every first Friday of the month. The City of Canton has an 18-wheeler trailer with a stage that unfolds. There are also vendors at the event, so it’s a great chance to support local businesses.
Canton has all kinds of fun festivals throughout the year. You’ve got the Brews and Wings Fest, the Multicultural Fest, and a Farmer’s market in downtown Canton. The Farmer’s market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m to 12 p.m, and you’ll get local farmers and vendors there. Some of the best tacos I've ever had were from this market. So, you’ll be both well-fed AND entertained.
#4 Shopping and Dining
If shopping is your thing, then you’ll absolutely love the Canton Marketplace right off Highway 20. You’ll find big box stores like Best Buy, Hobby Lobby, and Target. Downtown Canton is home to cool boutiques and art galleries like Menagerie on Main, which showcases the artworks of local artists. You also have antiques at the Cotton Mill Exchange, which is located in Etowah Mill.
The dining experiences around Canton are exceptional. There’s Local on Main, Queenie's, Going Coastal, Four 41 South barbecue, Perrotta's pizza, and J. Michael's Prime. J. Michael's Prime is my go-to restaurant for fine dining. I always go when I want to celebrate with a big old steak.
#5 Downtown is absolutely off and popping
We have Reformation at the Etowah Mill and gorgeous spaces that have been recently renovated. We’ve got the green space and an amphitheater. So, downtown Canton is a great place for all kinds of festivities, shopping, and dining. If you work remotely, we’ve got a Thrive workspace you can rent at an affordable cost.
We also have the Jones building, a big development that's coming to downtown Canton. That building has been bought for $2.2 million, and the developers are going through the renovation process. So, we're looking to get more shops, another co-working space, and even more dining options.
Georgia is a top film location. So, downtown Canton is also a host to the film industry. We've had three top films shot here – Hidden Figures, Hangman, and Loving You Is Wrong.
These were the top 5 reasons you should move to Canton, but this city has a lot more to offer. If we’ve convinced you to join us over here, the median price point is currently $499,000.
